4. I don’t understand the Credit system, how does it work?
A credit, sometimes also referred to as quarter credit, quarter unit or quarter hour, is a unit of academic work. One credit is defined to require one session (of fifty minutes) each week for one quarter, i.e. 10 sessions per quarter as
Saint Dominic University operates academic programs based on a quarter system where each quarter is 10 weeks and an academic year has four quarters (including the summer quarter) . Course credit is assigned according to the number hours of online instruction associated with the course.
The quarter credit which requires one session of online instructions each week for one quarter requires on average at least another two hours of out-of-class preparation and study. For example, if a course requires two sessions per week for a quarter, it’ll earn the student 2 quarter credits on successful completion.
In some courses, students may also earn a quarter credit for every additional 20 to 30 hours a quarter of computer laboratory, coursework and projects depending on the particular course.
