Admissions
The admission process at Saint Dominic University is designed to be both simple and convenient.
Requests for admission are all considered by the Admissions Committee which is responsible for selecting those applicants whose abilities, academic preparation, interests, and personal qualities give promise of success at Saint Dominic University.
Each application for admission is given personal attention. Applicants are considered on the basis of academic performance, test scores, recommendations, and motivation. The University adheres to its policy of nondiscrimination against student applicants on the basis of age, sex, race, color, religion, physical handicap, and national or ethnic origin.
New Students may be admitted to any of the university degree programs in the one of the following quarters: Fall, Winter or Spring, but may not be admitted in the summer quarter.
FALL 2007 Quarter
Acceptance is subject to availability and meeting the university admission requirements.
Applications for admission into the Masters and PhD research programs are accepted throughout the year and applicant may start their research at any time, subject to confirmation by the university registrar.
PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE
To secure a place in one of the university's degree programs, students may apply for Provisional acceptance, which is an acceptance pending exam results. E.g. students may apply for Provisional acceptance anytime now for September 2007 admission and submit their exams results as soon as they are available in the summer before proceeding to registration.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS:
Applicants from Secondary or High Schools:
Saint Dominic University has no minimum grade requirements. We look at academic achievements, special talents, extra-curricular activities and Personal qualities as well as grades.
All applicants applying to join the university as a Freshman must submit official results of at least one of the following qualifications:
National Secondary Certificate in the applicant's home country
High school Diploma from an acceptable school.
SAT Test
International Baccalaureate
IGCSE or GCE
Similar or equivalent certificate or qualification that is acceptable for entry into university in the applicant's home country.
The amount of credit offered for various qualifications varies depending on the grades and type of qualifications .
Students will be awarded a maximum of 25 quarter credits for their secondary or high school achievements. The number of awarded credits will be notified in the admission acceptance confirmation letter.
All students who are not native English speakers are required to satisfy the English proficiency requirements before beginning an academic program.
Undergraduate admissions of students over 21:
Admission requirements are relaxed for students who are over 21 at the time of their first enrollment and they will not be required to hold the certificates or diplomas mentioned above. However, they will still be required to submit documentation outlining their education and employment history (if applicable) and cases are considered on an individual basis. Students from non-English speaking countries are still required, where applicable, to satisfy the English proficiency requirements
GRADUATE ADMISSIONS
The University's admissions criteria vary from program to program and are designed to measure the qualities and capabilities required of a professional in the field for which the student is applying, as reflected in an applicant's academic ability, academic preparation, and other personal and non-academic factors. Students must hold a Bachelor degree, to be admitted to a graduate degree program at the university, and submit transcripts that show completed courses , grades obtained, and length of the degree program they completed.
Masters and PhD by Research
Applicants for Masters and PhD programs of study by Research must include in the application form a brief research proposal outlining their proposed area of research. Students may, if they wish, contact the academic research advisor on arsadvisor@stdu.org for guidance prior to submitting their application for Admission. If applicants for a research program have no specific research proposal then they should indicate in the application form the relevant areas of interest.
DIPLOMA COURSES ADMISSIONS
The above Admission requirements do not apply to students applying to Diploma courses. Please
refer to the Diploma catalog for further details of the admission requirements.
This guide outlines the seven simple steps required to join the university and start a program of study. If you are over 21 and applying for an undergraduate course, you may be exempt from satisfying some of the above requirements; please refer to the university catalog or contact the admissions officer at admissions@stdu.org for more details.
1. Study the university catalog and decide on the program you would like to join.
2. Fill and submit the application for admission with a copy of the following documents (if applicable): Certificates, diplomas or degrees already obtained, academic transcripts and English profeciency certificates .
3. Receive the acceptance letter and check if there are any conditions or provisions for acceptance, sign and return the acceptance notification.
4. Satisfy the requirements of the acceptance notification (if any):
4.1 Entry qualifications:
a. For an applicant for an undergraduate course take the necessary entry qualification exams or tests such as:
National secondary certificate (The official national secondary certificate in your country)
SAT tests
ACT
IGCSE
I.B. (International Baccalaureate)
b. For an applicant for an graduate course: Obtain the necessary qualification, such as :
. Bachelor degree for entry into a Masters degree course.
. Masters degree for entry into a PhD degree course.
4.2 English Proficiency (If applicable):

IELTS
Other English certificates
If you do not fully satisfy the entry requirements in 4.1 and 4.2 above, the admissions officer may impose one or more of the following requirements to proceed to enrollment:

7. Access the University Learning Management system and start your program of study at Saint Dominic University.
