The college of Arts and Sciences has six departments which offer the following degree Programs:

Department of Economics

The Economics program at Saint Dominic University is designed to give students an understanding of the economic system and train them to analyze data, think analytically and critically to solve complex problems and recognize human behavior in relation to work, production, distribution and consumption, the fundamental operations of economies and most businesses. Students study the economic forces which determine the production of goods and services, the level of prices, the distribution of income, and other economic factors which influence the quality of life. Such study includes an analysis of current economic problems and the merits of alternative public policies which influence social outcomes. The Department of Economics offers courses in all of the major fields of economic study, and stresses the application of economic theory to current problems in a number of fields. The graduate programs, by course or Research Thesis, offer a wide range of specializations in areas such as international economics, the economics of finance (both public and private), institutional and development economics, the analysis of industrial entities, the effect of regulations, the role of the private sector in the economy and stress an analytical approach to corporate, governmental, and monetary economic problems.

Department of Interior Design

Interior design is a visual, technical and practical art and a science that involves the adaptation of natural and human-made environments to the cultural, social, economic, and behavioral activities of people. The program engages students with basic and advanced components of interior design as well as providing an introduction into more specialized areas. Students can develop design concepts for interior spaces, and transform these concepts into practical, functional, and innovative environments that meet client needs and learn the basic business skills that are required in interior design to develop their own sense of style, creativity and visual presentation skills.
In this program, students will study the various aspects of interior design, including computer-aided drafting and design as the students use sophisticated computer technology to develop and enhance their individual projects, textile design, space planning, and 3-D spaces to refine their individual skills and talents. As a designer, the student will develop an awareness of the total design concept for an interior space and transform it into a practical, functional, yet innovative and exciting environment that meets the needs of the clients and users.
The Master and Ph.D. programs at the Department of interior Design at Saint Dominic University provide opportunities for students to achieve excellence in the design of interiors by offering a wide range of specializations to creatively solve problems relative to the function and quality of human environment, to satisfy the user needs and preferences for function, materials, and aesthetics that determine the overall quality of an interior environment.
Possible topics for advanced study and research include: visualization and interior design applications for computers, renovation and conservation of historic interior spaces; design for people with special needs, interior lighting and acoustics and indoor environmental quality issues.

Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics offers a variety of courses intended for those who want to pursue a career in mathematics as well as those who wish to develop quantitative and problem-solving skills for use in other fields. The concentration in mathematics is directed toward students interested in pursuing graduate training in mathematics, teaching mathematics, and those interested in entering careers in business and industry. As Mathematics now plays a significant role is a wide range of disciplines, Math graduates are in great demand.
The department offers graduate degree programs both by course and research in Mathematics providing students with the skills required to develop and implement the subject in a wide range of applications.

Department of Physics

A Physics degree covers a wide spread of subjects and places the emphasis on fundamental principles and how useful scientific concepts can be developed from them and applied. It provides the tools necessary to think generally and creatively and the foundation for other sciences as well as engineering. Physics majors can pursue a wide range of careers including, law, business, medicine, engineering as well as education.
The Physics graduate programs have a course or a thesis options and encourage students to explore the several areas of Physics and Applied Physics.

Department of Psychology

The psychology programs cover the scientific study of the mind and human behavior and include both the normal and abnormal behavior as it is affected by the learning process, personality development, motivation, and interaction with others. This program prepares the students for variety of careers in business, counseling, human services government and education. The department also offers, in conjunction with the Department of Sociology, a combined Psychology and Sociology Bachelor degree program which provides greater flexibility and widens the horizon of the graduates.
The Master's program in psychology develops the student's critical thinking skills to help the understanding and application of key psychological principles in diverse settings. It is available by course or research thesis.
The department does not currently offer a PhD program in Psychology.

Department of Sociology

The Sociology program concentrates on the study of social life, social changes, and the reasons and results of human behavior to provide students with many distinctive perspectives on the world to develop the ability to investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies, and how people interact within them. Students will learn the various research techniques that can be applied to virtually any aspect of social life and understand social inequality, patterns of behavior, forces for social change and resistance, and how social systems work. As Sociology addresses the most challenging issues of our time, it is a rapidly expanding field providing sociology graduates with several opportunities for wide range of careers.
The department of Sociology, offer further study and research opportunities in the theory and application of Sociology through its graduate Master and PhD by course or by Research Thesis programs.
