GRADES
Saint Dominic university uses letter grades with the four (4.00) point maximum grading scale. A student’s work is rated in accordance with the following definitions:
A Superior: The student has demonstrated a quality of work and accomplishment far beyond the formal requirements and shows originality of thought and mastery of material.
A 4.00 EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE
A- 3.70 EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE
B Above Average: The student’s achievement exceeds the usual accomplishment, showing a clear indication of initiative and grasp of the subject.
B+ 3.30 GOOD PERFORMANCE
B 3.00 GOOD PERFORMANCE
B- 2.70 GOOD PERFORMANCE
C Average: The student has met the formal requirements and has demonstrated good comprehension of the subject and reasonable ability to handle ideas.
C+ 2.30 ADEQUATE PERFORMANCE
C 2.00 ADEQUATE PERFORMANCE
C- 1.70 ADEQUATE PERFORMANCE
D Below Average: The student’s accomplishment (while still passing) leaves much to be desired. Minimum requirements have been met but were inadequate.
D + 1.30 MARGINAL PERFORMANCE
D 1.00 MARGINAL PERFORMANCE
D - 0.70 MARGINAL PERFORMANCE
F Failure: The student has not met the minimum requirements.
F 0.00 UNACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE

GPA CALCULATION
All students should be able to calculate their cumulative GPA after each quarter.
Example:
In a particular quarter, a student has taken the following courses shown with the applicable quarter credit hours:
SOC 122 :  4
PHYS 114 : 3
TWR 124:   1
MATH 236: 3
ACC 105 :  3
Total       14 credits
He has obtained the following grades :
SOC 122 :  A
PHYS 114 : B
TWR 124:   B
MATH 236: A
ACC 105 :  C
Grade A has 4.00 points, B 3.00 points and C 2.00 points.
The Total Honor Points is obtained by multiplying the number of credit hours by the honor points per credit hour and adding them up.
In this example, the Total Honor Points is 46
To calculate the GPA the total honor points 46 is divided by the number of credits which is 14
GPA= 3.29
Only credits that are counted towards a degree are used to calculate the cumulative GPA.
ACADEMIC HONORS
PRESIDENT’S HONOR ROLL: At the completion of each quarter, full-time students who have earned a GPA of 3.80 or greater for that quarter will be named to the President’s Honor Roll. This academic honor will be indicated on the student's transcripts.
DEAN’S LIST: At the completion of each quarter, the names of full time undergraduate students whose quarter GPA is between 3.5 and 3.79 will be included on the Dean’s List.
This academic honor will be indicated on student transcripts.
GRADUATION GRADE
An accumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required for graduation. Occasionally, certain departments may require a higher grade point average.
GRADUATION HONORS:
For honors degree, students must have earned a GPA of 3.30 or higher and satisfied all Saint Dominic University degree requirements. Three categories are awarded for superior scholarship in work leading to the Bachelor's degree. This honor which is based upon the graduation grade-point average (GPA), is awarded upon graduation and appears on the transcript and diploma of the student.
1. Summa Cum Laude is awarded to candidates whose GPA is 3.80 or higher.
2. Magna Cum Laude is awarded to candidates whose GPA is 3.60-3.79
3. Cum Laude is awarded to candidates whose GPA is 3.30 – 3.59
